Student Resources

The University has a multitude of resources available to foster the success of its students. The following links identify some of the more frequently used resources, but additional resources may also be available. If you have questions or need assistance with a particular area, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students.

Career Center

The Career Center provides career education programming, assessment, and counseling that lead students to explore, plan for, and manage their future careers.

Center for Student Success

The Capstone Center for Student Success provides support designed to improve students’ academic performance. Students may obtain program information, use resources or talk with a staff member about services by visiting 101 Osband Hall or by calling (205) 348-5175. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services

Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services (CRIS) provides a comprehensive continuum of care for students with substance use concerns. Services range from prevention, awareness, and exploration of consequences for high risk behaviors to a supportive, safe, and engaging environment that supports students seeking or contemplating recovery.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center seeks to assist students to achieve academic success and personal growth through quality brief counseling and psychological services, as well as outreach and consultative services.

Crossroads Community Center

Crossroads Community Engagement Center provides leadership in cultural programming and intercultural education.

Financial Aid

Student Financial Aid (SFA) at the University of Alabama provides comprehensive information and services regarding opportunities to finance the cost of education at UA. SFA is responsible for administering federal funds, including direct loans, grants, and work study.

Food Services

Bama Dining seeks to provide a balanced food service program that meets the nutritional, educational, and social needs of students and the university community.

Housing and Residential Communities

Housing and Residential Communities supports students’ development, learning, and engagement through intentionally designed environments, programs and services.

Office of Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is the central campus resource for students who wish to request academic accommodations. In collaboration with students and instructors, ODS staff coordinate accommodations and support to ensure equal access to an education.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center and Pharmacy (SHCP) is dedicated to meeting students’ health care needs and being their medical home away from home. SHCP areas include medical care, an in-house pharmacy, a competent billing/insurance department, and outreach prevention health education.

Student Identification and Action Card

Your Action Card or “ACT Card” is your official student ID for The University of Alabama. The ACT Card is used for Bama Cash, Dining Dollars, meal plans, building access, NCAA athletic events, University recreation centers, the Student Health Center, campus entertainment events, and more.

Student Media

The Office of Student Media includes: The Crimson White, a newspaper published twice each week; WVUA 90.7 FM, a 24-hour radio station; Alice, a fashion and lifestyle magazine; Bama Life, a newsletter emailed to students three times each week; Marr’s Field Journal, an undergraduate literary journal; Black Warrior Review, a graduate literary journal; Southern Historian, a graduate history research journal; and various digital media projects.

The Media Planning Board (MPB) is chartered by the University and reports to the Office of the Vice President for Student Life. All student publication staff members retain their First Amendment rights and are free of censorship and advance approval of content, and all editors and managers are free to select their own staffs and develop their own coverage.

University Recreation

University Recreation‘s facilities and programs provide contemporary and relevant opportunities for enhanced health and well-being through the engagement and participation of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

Veterans Affairs

Through a variety of programs and services, the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs seeks to provide, facilitate, or coordinate programs and services to meet the special needs of veterans, service members, dependents, and survivors.

Women and Gender Resource Center

The University of Alabama Women and Gender Resource Center fosters a community of social justice, safety, diversity, leadership, and education.
